Joshua Chamberlain House and More

Visiting Joshua Chamberlain’s Brunswick.

The families of Guilford Christian Academy and Freedom Academy are invited to spend a day in Brunswick learning more about Joshua Chamberlain and the Maine that he lived in. We will be spending the morning exploring the Joshua Chamberlain House ( as well as the Skolfield-Whittier House ( This is a great way to get in some Maine History.

When: Friday, October 17th at 10am
Where: Brunswick, ME (website:
Cost: $6/child age 6 and up. Children 5 & under are free but count towards our total number of people.
This covers admission to both houses.
Deadline to sign up: September 5th

**We are able to bring one adult free for every five children. I will be using this to discount ALL admission prices for adults. The amount listed above is the full amount for an adult. Once I know how many children will be attending, I will send out emails with the total cost. Prompt payment at that point will be necessary as I will be pre-paying for this trip. Thus there will be no refunds if you cannot attend.

We have a limit of 48 people (including everyone). We will be splitting in to four groups of twelve. Two groups will begin at the Joshua Chamberlain House and two will begin at the Skolfield-Whittier House. The tours will last about 45 minutes. The groups will then switch. The houses are located about a 5 minute walk from each other.

There is also a self-guided walking tour of Brunswick called Chamberlain’s Brunswick. While the afternoon will not be coordinated, if you’d like to plan to stay and picnic (we’ll be near Bowdoin College), you could certainly do so and then enjoy the tour. You can view the map here:

If you are interested in attending, please fill out this quick Google Docs Form.

I will send out information on payment once this trip is filled OR by September 5th which ever event comes first. I will need to have your payment received by September 17th when I need to pay for the trip.

Just a reminder that this event is only for the families enrolled in Guilford Christian Academy and Freedom Academy. Thanks!
